Job Title 100% Remote Billing Specialist in Workers’ Comp Defense | PT or Contract
A well‑established boutique workers’ compensation defense firm is expanding its billing team and hiring an experienced Billing Specialist to support high‑volume litigation billing and appeals‑related invoicing. Join a respected defense practice remotely and play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and smooth revenue operations.
What You’ll Do
Manage full‑cycle billing, time entry review, invoice submissions, LEDES formatting, and e‑billing portal uploads.
Review attorneys’ time for accuracy, coding, task‑based billing compliance, and guideline adherence.
Track outstanding invoices, monitor aging reports, and follow up proactively to support collections.
Coordinate closely with attorneys, case teams, claims representatives, and internal accounting.
Research and resolve billing discrepancies or client questions.
Prepare reports, billing summaries, and trend data for leadership decision‑making.
Experience handling billing for appeals or post‑award litigation phases in workers’ comp defense is a huge plus.

Requirements
Billing experience within a workers’ compensation defense law firm (strongly preferred).
Understanding of defense‑side billing structures, guideline compliance, and insurance carrier billing expectations.
Strong Excel and legal billing/e‑billing software knowledge (Bottomline, Ascent, Collaborti, Quovant, Counselink, TyMetrix360, etc.).
Detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven, and capable of thriving independently in a remote environment.
Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
Bonus Points
Appeals billing experience (significant advantage).
Prior remote billing experience.
Strong analytics/reporting capability.
