About the Leasing Consultant Position We’re looking for a talented leasing consultant who will be responsible for coordinating all activities related to apartment rentals, move‑ins, move‑outs, and lease renewals. The leasing consultant is also responsible for interacting directly with prospective and current residents to achieve maximum occupancy and ensure resident retention and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Focus on the needs of others by listening, understanding, and showing empathy and respect.
Ensure excellent customer service and promote a quality living experience for all residents.
Generate and handle traffic, qualify prospective residents, lease apartments, prepare lease documentation, and complete move‑in paperwork.
Ensure model apartments are in touring condition.
Orient prospective and current residents to the property.
Process renewal paperwork and deliver documentation to current residents monthly.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of traffic activity.
Follow up with all prospective residents via phone, mail, or email.
Convert phone traffic into scheduled appointments to tour the property.
Inspect apartments prior to resident move‑ins and coordinate move‑in/out needs with maintenance.
Create and maintain confidential resident files and review move‑in paperwork.
Complete weekly leasing reports accurately and timely.
Ensure all open and close procedures are completed daily.
Assist with ongoing resident relations throughout tenancy.
Responsible for shopping competitive properties.
Inspect buildings and grounds for safety and cleanliness.
Assist with processing work order requests and ensure timely completion.
Provide clerical support such as answering phones, filing, and processing property invoices.
Assist with planning and implementing resident activities to increase retention.
Comply with all company policies, health and safety rules, and applicable laws.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma required.
Minimum one year of previous sales experience preferred.
One year of previous residential leasing experience preferred.
Skills and Requirements
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Prior experience in Yardi Voyager or equivalent system preferred.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively at all levels.
Sensitivity to confidential matters.
Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
Technical communication skills.
English reading, writing, and speaking proficiency.
Proficiency with general office equipment.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Ability to handle difficult people calmly.
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, current auto insurance required.
Compliance with safety requirements.
Must complete Avenue5 Fair Housing, Diversity and Inclusion Training within first 30 days.
