Mechanical Engineer IV – 12‑month contract – Hybrid in Boston, MA

Location: Hybrid – Boston, MA
Duration: 12 months
Base Pay: $50.00/hr – $60.00/hr
Position: Full‑time, Mid‑Senior level
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross‑functional engineers to design and execute packaging machinery and automation projects.
Lead mechanical design workstreams for system evolution, structural member design, modular frame, safety/guarding, and ancillary systems.
Deliver engineering workstreams including drive system modeling, load and bearing calculations, static and dynamic torque simulations, analysis, 3D/2D model design, and mechanical BOM generation.
Execute detailed design evolution of modules and subsystems for material specifications, geographic requirements, and continuous improvement goals aligned with platform initiatives.
Partner with Electrical Engineering to ensure project documentation is complete and scalable for electrical schematics, BOM, I/O, and subsystem programs.
Support safety certification of the project/platform (CE, UL, CSA, TUV, etc.).
Work from the Boston office 3 days per week and be able to travel up to ~20%.
Qualifications Mechanical engineering experience in packaging or automation with strong design, analysis, and documentation skills. Experience with structural design, dynamic analysis, and BOM generation is required.
