Mechanical Process Engineer (Boilers/Combustion)
As a member of the Process and Controls Engineering Team at 22nd Century Technologies Inc., you will be an active contributor to support the Clean Combustion Products and Services business. You will develop tenders, perform detailed studies, and lead contract execution, working cross‑functionally to develop process solutions that meet customer needs for utility and industrial boilers. The main duties include thermal sizing and process assessment of sub‑ and supercritical 2‑Pass boilers. You will work as a team player and, at times, as a task leader, acting with humility, transparency, focus and inclusion; analytically minded, decisive, and collaborative.
Roles and Responsibilities
Support the Clean Combustion Services boiler market for a wide variety of customer requests including pressure‑part material and equipment upgrades and comprehensive power plant assessments (fuel conversions, emission reductions, heat‑rate improvements).
Perform combustion/process calculations to determine furnace combustor and associated component performance, including heat‑transfer surface configurations, selection of pressure‑part arrangement and materials based on project‑specified fuels, thermal cycles and customer requirements.
Develop steam generator performance guarantees and support commissioning and performance‑testing activities.
Create material lists and engineering selections to meet customer requirements and provide required deliverables, collaborating with the project team.
Utilize in‑depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking to execute business strategy.
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews, ensuring proper documentation of technical data consistent with engineering codes, policies and procedures.
Use judgment to propose alternative solutions outside established parameters for complex manufacturing processes.
Serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues; may lead small projects with low risk and limited resources; explain information and develop consensus among team members.
Domestic travel to visit customer sites, Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or another engineering discipline with a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.
