Our Fife, WA location is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mold Maker to join our dynamic team of plastic injection molding professionals. Mold makers are skilled members of our manufacturing operations teams. These technicians will beresponsible for the specialized manufacturing and repair of molds and related components in plastic injection molding.
Responsibilities
Manufacture, alter, repair, and maintain molds and dies for injection molding
Perform complex mold repairs and spot shutoffs as required
Troubleshoot tooling problems on the production floor with cross-functional team of engineers and technicians
Operate various standard machine tools and mold-making machinery (i.e. mills, lathes, etc.) in the production and repair of injection molds
Perform welding operations
Create new tools from raw materials
Must be able to work in a team environment with limited oversight
Work closely with engineering to review new and existing tooling designs
Inspect finished molds for surface finish, size requirements, and defect detection, ensuring compliance with quality standards
Perform set-ups and adjustments on all mold-making machinery
Perform various types of bench work including stoning, polishing, and assembly
Perform timely, detailed inspections of mold components using measurement tools and visual inspection
Perform inspection of molded parts as required for mold troubleshooting and repair
Good housekeeping in the work area and the following of all safety policies, procedures, and rules

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of mold‑making experience in the plastics industry
Must be a journeyman mold maker or have extensive work experience in the construction of new injection mold tooling and repair of damaged molds
Must be able to do original work and mold construction or repair without direct supervision
Proficiency in disassembling / assembling dies / molds
Experience working with tooling materials such as P‑20, H‑13, Stainless, and Aluminum
Ability to use SolidWorks and MasterCam
Extensive knowledge of metal finishing and polishing techniques
Must have a thorough knowledge of operation of mold-making tools, machining methods, and typical mold tooling material
Skillfully operate 3 axis CNC, Bridgeport milling machine, manual lathe, CNC sinker EDM machine, surface grinder and tool grinder
Good analytical, conceptual, numerical, and reasoning abilities
Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and mechanical drawings
Strong aptitude for precision and accurate calculations
Able to operate forklift and overhead crane
Works to very close tolerances (+ / - 0.002)
