Key Responsibilities Production Coordination
Prioritize and schedule shop production activities in alignment with project timelines and goals.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely delivery of fabricated components and materials.
Team Leadership
Train and mentor union shop employees, fostering skill development and safety awareness.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Address and resolve conflicts among union shop employees professionally and constructively.
Maintain a respectful and inclusive working environment.
Training & Development
Manage and maintain the written training program for union shop employees, ensuring it remains current, relevant, and aligned with operational needs.
Empower and support assigned trainers by providing clear expectations, resources, and feedback to ensure consistent and effective training delivery.
Regularly review and update training materials to reflect changes in processes, equipment, safety standards, and best practices.
Conduct and oversee skill assessments to evaluate employee competencies, identify gaps, and guide individualized development plans.
Promote a culture of learning and growth within the shop, encouraging cross-training and advancement opportunities.
Logistics & Inventory
Oversee incoming deliveries and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for material handling and inventory control.
Staffing & Discipline
Participate in hiring processes for shop personnel, including interviewing and onboarding.
Administer disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and union agreements.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
Qualifications Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Proven experience managing a production or fabrication shop, preferably in a union environment.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Familiarity with shipping/receiving procedures and inventory systems.
Knowledge of labor relations and conflict resolution strategies.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
