The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) and the Lee J. Styslinger Jr. College of Engineering at the University of Alabama (UA) invite applications for an Assistant Professor position in the research area of Resilience Engineering (including focus areas in geotechnical and construction). Detailed Position Information

The CCEE department and the Styslinger College invite applications for multiple tenure‑track and tenured faculty positions at all ranks, including Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels. This posting is specific to candidates applying for a position at the rank of tenure‑track Assistant Professor in the research area of Resilience Engineering. Candidates with strong research records in related fields who seek appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor should apply through related postings at those levels. The CCEE department seeks candidates focused on advancing sustainable, adaptable, and resilient infrastructure systems through geotechnical/geoengineering or construction engineering/management. Areas of expertise should include innovative solutions that enhance resilience of built and natural environments; novel processes, materials, and technologies to reduce embodied and operational carbon; sustainable hazard mitigation; digital transformation and data‑driven methods; geotechnical hazard mitigation; and integration of safety and risk management in construction and geotechnical systems under extreme conditions. The department offers ABET/EAC accredited B.S. degrees in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, and Environmental Engineering, as well as six minors. Undergraduate enrollment is nearly 800 students; graduate enrollment is nearly 120 students. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop, lead, and extramurally fund a highly productive research group; collaborate with existing faculty; develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses; and support the collegial, welcoming spirit of the community. Appointments are based on the University’s academic program requirements and the goal of maintaining teaching, research, and service excellence. Minimum Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. in Architectural, Civil, Construction, Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. Demonstrated record of prior research work and impactful scholarly publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings, and similar venues. Demonstrated interest and/or record in engineering education and professional service in area(s) of specialization. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Potential to construct and sustain a quality research program. Potential for excellent teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Preferred Qualifications

Record of high‑quality research and scholarly publications recognized nationally and/or internationally. Scholarship in architectural, civil, construction, or environmental engineering, or a closely related department with both undergraduate and graduate programs. Post‑doctoral experience or other similar post‑graduate experience. Interest or progress toward professional licensure or other applicable certification (FE or PE). Exceptional collegial, interpersonal, and mentoring skills. Instructions And Required Materials For Application
