Job Summary & Responsibilities The Accountant plays a critical role on POET’s Finance Services team through understanding and documenting financial transactions, preparing journal entries, compiling and analyzing results, and making recommendations to the business units. You will partner with internal stakeholders to support informed, data‑driven decisions through timely and accurate financial statements and develop your financial knowledge and business acumen through daily interactions. No task is too big or too small – you are positive and understand the importance of a cohesive and collaborative team.
This is an on‑site role located in Sioux Falls. Responsibilities include:
Perform accounting duties related to the daily administration of the Finance Services team.
Assist in the maintenance of the general ledger, including the preparation of journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations, variance analysis, and month‑end close duties.
Support the preparation of the monthly financial statements including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
Assist with the annual financial audit including preparing schedules, gathering and providing supporting documentation, and preparing other necessary data as requested.
Recommend, design, and implement process improvements and internal controls.
Conduct project work as assigned to support the business unit strategies.
Build and maintain relationships with POET business partners.
Work in an honest and ethical manner; maintain confidentiality on all business‑related matters.
Always foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance.
Maintain a team environment and champion POET in the community.

Qualifications & Skills
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or
Associate’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of related experience
Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new programs.
