Job Overview Employees in this role take the lead on special projects, researching, analyzing, and reporting on issues that affect the company, making recommendations for solutions, and following through to resolution.
Specific Responsibilities
Prepare month‑end journal entries and supporting documentation (revenues, cost of goods sold, receivables, prepaids, deposits, accrued interest, etc.)
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare month‑end close results file.
Compile and analyze financial information for regulatory reporting.
Analyze costs by responsibility center and communicate monthly with business owners.
Prepare financial reports in compliance with GAAP, in a timely manner.
Maintain a strong understanding of GAAP, SEC regulations, and company policies.
Assure accounting integrity of corporate financial data through implementation of appropriate internal controls.
Prepare schedules and journal entries.
Provide guidance and direction to other team members.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
4+ years of relevant accounting experience.
Knowledge of either the retail gas or power industry preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Master’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting/Finance.
Experience with SAP.
Advanced proficiency in Excel (vlookups, pivots, formulas).
SQL report writing, Power BI, and Access database experience (helpful but not required).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Process and project management experience.
Integrity and compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
