Job Summary And Responsibilities
Expertly manage and resolve complex employee relations issues including grievances, disciplinary actions, performance management concerns, and workplace disputes, ensuring fair and consistent application of hospital policies and legal compliance.
Conduct thorough, impartial, and timely investigations into allegations of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and other policy violations, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and compiling comprehensive reports with clear recommendations.
Facilitate effective conflict resolution, mediating disputes between employees, departments, and management, fostering constructive dialogue and mutually agreeable solutions.
Provide expert guidance and coaching to managers and supervisors on employee relations best practices, performance management, difficult conversations, and policy interpretation.
Develop and deliver training sessions on topics such as conflict resolution, harassment prevention, and effective communication to promote a harmonious work environment.
Stay current with employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, Title VII) to ensure all employee relations activities are legally defensible and compliant.
Employee Engagement & Culture
Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction, partnering with leadership to identify opportunities for improvement and implement targeted solutions.
Act as a champion for the hospital's values and culture, promoting a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment.
Analyze employee feedback (surveys, exit interviews) to identify trends and recommend strategic interventions to improve the employee experience.
Collaborate with department heads to design and implement recognition programs, team‑building activities, and communication strategies that foster a sense of belonging and appreciation.
Support change management initiatives, ensuring clear communication and employee buy‑in during organizational transitions.
Strategic HR Partnership
Serve as a primary HR point of contact for assigned departments/business units, understanding their operational needs and providing strategic HR support.
Partner with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the hospital's overall goals and objectives.
Analyze HR data and metrics to identify trends and inform decision‑making related to employee relations, engagement, and talent management.
Contribute to the development and review of HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are fair, consistent, and effective.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
5+ years of progressive HR experience with a significant focus on employee relations and engagement, preferably within a hospital or healthcare setting.
Demonstrated expertise in conducting complex investigations, with strong interviewing techniques, evidence gathering, and report writing skills.
Proven track record of successful negotiations and conflict resolution in emotionally charged situations.
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and complex cases while maintaining meticulous records.
In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, Title VII, Workers' Compensation).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) to build rapport, influence stakeholders, and communicate sensitive information with empathy and clarity.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive employee information.
Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
HR certification (e.g., SHRM‑CP, SHRM‑SCP, SPHR, PHR) highly desirable.
