Job Description The School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine are pleased to announce an opening for a Finance & Accounting Specialist. This position plays a vital role in supporting departmental financial operations by providing accurate information, analysis, and assistance to faculty, staff, and internal partners.
Position Summary The Finance & Accounting Specialist supports a variety of financial and accounting functions, including data analysis, budgeting, billing, purchasing, and report preparation. This role contributes to the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the department's financial processes and serves as a resource to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide financial and accounting information, guidance, and support to clients and departmental staff.
Understand how the finance team integrates with other units to meet departmental and School of Medicine objectives.
Complete routine financial tasks and assigned responsibilities with accuracy and attention to detail.
Contribute to the quality, timeliness, and overall effectiveness of financial operations within the team.
Communicate financial information clearly to team members, noting trends, anomalies, process improvements, or efficiencies to supervisors or appropriate stakeholders.
Serve as a liaison within the department and with external partners to resolve routine financial or accounting matters.
Specific finance duties include:
Complete and track reimbursements and invoice payments
Other payments/tracking (FedEx, Ricoh, Shred-It, etc.)
OneCard applications and reconciliations
Contract processing for simple contracts (speakers, etc.)
Purchasing transactions for department
Serve as department Time Keeper
Enter JED changes and payroll correcting entries
Create journal entries
Provide support and training for division level staff on payroll and reimbursements
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the financial operations of the Department of Medicine.
Shift Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Anticipated Hiring Range Salary Range: $17.05 - $23.37 hourly Grade: GGS - 007 University Title: FIN AND ACCTG SPECIALIST Internal applicants can determine their university title by accessing the Talent Profile tile in myHR.
