Job Description The NIH‑funded Rat Resource and Research Center (RRRC) and Mutant Mouse Resource & Research Center (MMRRC) serve as unique repositories for rodent models that are important to the biomedical community. The mission of these Centers is to supply biomedical investigators with rats and mice, embryonic stem cells, related reagents, protocols, and technical services that they require for their research. Responsibilities
Manage mouse and rat breeding colonies.
Perform surgical procedures such as embryo transfer and vasectomy.
Execute sperm and embryo cryopreservation and cryorecovery.
Prepare media and hormones.
Administer animal injections (mouse & rat).
Manipulate embryos, including microinjection and electroporation.
Maintain electronic data management, inventory, and general record keeping.
Participate in research projects aimed at improving Resource Center functions and procedures.
Perform microscope work requiring good manual dexterity.

Shift Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM‑5:00 PM. Some scheduled weekend work is necessary. Must be flexible with daily start and end times, which are based on the needs of animal procedures that aren’t always predictable.
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 1 year of comparable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Mouse and rat handling experience.
BA/BS in life sciences or animal science is preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, able to work individually and in a team setting.
Anticipated Hiring Range Starting wage: $23.37 hourly. Grade: GGS‑007. University Title: Research Specialist I.
