ViaSun Corporation is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Project Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of construction projects, providing essential information that will support decision‑making and project planning. Your expertise will help ensure that our projects are competitively priced and align with our financial goals.
Base pay range $76,000.00/yr - $102,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed cost estimates for civil construction scopes including grading, paving, concrete work, and water utility infrastructure
Review project plans, specifications, and related documentation to prepare accurate, competitive bids
Perform quantity takeoffs to support cost estimating and budget development
Update and calibrate annual material prices, labor rates, and equipment costs to maintain accurate unit pricing
Build and maintain a reliable subcontractor and supplier database to support competitive pricing and comprehensive scope coverage
Identify potential project risks and incorporate appropriate contingencies into estimates
Support preconstruction efforts across a variety of project delivery methods, including Hard Bid, Job Order Contracting (JOC), Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), and Design‑Build
Review Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and proposal submissions to ensure alignment with client requirements
Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site walks, and client discussions to gather essential project information and strengthen relationships
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop value‑engineering options and cost‑saving strategies
Prepare thorough preconstruction handoff packages to ensure a smooth and informed transition to the operations team
Assist in contract and change order negotiations with clients and subcontractors
Maintain and update historical cost data and unit‑price libraries to improve estimating accuracy over time
Analyze completed projects to compare estimated versus actual costs and identify opportunities for improvement
Prepare clear, informative reports and presentations for internal teams, highlighting estimating insights, project outcomes, and emerging trends
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in project estimating within the construction industry
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
Preferred Software Experience (a plus)
