Morning Cashier - Dietetic Specialist
WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s – Morgantown, West Virginia
This role typically requires greater responsibility than a Dietetic Assistant. Key duties include cashiering (including Doctor’s Dining and Espresso), catering, and storeroom operations. Customer satisfaction is crucial.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from Monongalia County Health Department (MCHD) prior to start or obtain a temporary MCHD FSWP no later than the first Wednesday of employment and a permanent FSWP within one month. Must maintain a valid MCHD FSWP throughout employment. Until a temporary FSWP is obtained, the employee may not handle exposed food or any food contact surface, equipment or utensil; may be trained on tray delivery and complete general department orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Properly handle cash, credit cards, payroll deductions and meal vouchers following department policies.
Efficiently and accurately operate the register system, providing correct change, asking customers to open containers and handling over/under deposits within department compliance guidelines.
Review the menu, pricing and register screen prior to starting shift.
Maintain work area throughout shift; ensure it is clean and well stocked.
Follow all recipes and techniques when preparing beverages.
Assemble supplies needed for catered events.
Set up, deliver, serve and clean catered events according to established standards.
Interact with customers in a professional courteous manner. For catered events, provide quiet and unobtrusive service.
Store items according to FDA Food Code.
Work with vendors regarding deliveries, orders, pars and proper storage.
Inspect items during receiving and reject and document unacceptable products.
Follow training and safety procedures when operating equipment; clean and properly store equipment.
Inventory assigned areas and restock to par; assemble and deliver orders for various areas.
Dietetic Assistant duties may be assigned as needed.
Physical Requirements
Require bending, lifting and carrying of food and supply items and equipment up to 50 lbs (or 150 lbs and ability to push or pull 4,000 lbs in inventory positions).
Ability to stand for entire working day.
Working Environment
Ability to work effectively in a noisy setting and under deadline pressures.
Work area may be hot, cold, and/or wet.
Skills And Abilities
Math skills required to work with cash and inventory.
Ability to understand written and oral communication.
