Trail Blazer Benefits And Leave Of Absence Specialist
We are looking for a trail blazer who is a self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision. A Benefits and Leave of Absence Specialist manages employee benefits and administers complex leave programs like FMLA, ADA, disability, and parental leave, ensuring legal compliance (federal / state laws), processing documentation, coordinating with benefit brokers and supporting employees during time off, making sure they get paid accurately and benefits continue. They act as a key HR contact for absences, requiring strong knowledge of employment law, communication, and organization.
Key Responsibilities Leave Administration :
Oversee leaves (FMLA, ADA, short / long-term disability, personal), process requests, track balances, and ensure compliance.
Benefits Management :
Administer health, dental, vision, life, and retirement plans, handle open enrollment, and manage new enrollments / terminations.
Compliance :
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws (FMLA, ADA, etc.) and company policies.
Employee Support :
Guide employees and managers through leave processes, answer questions, and coordinate accommodations.
Coordination :
Work with HR, payroll, and third-party vendors to ensure accurate record-keeping and pay.
Policy Development :
Help create and maintain benefits and leave policies.
Essential Skills & Knowledge In-depth knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and other employment laws.
Strong organizational, communication, and confidentiality skills.
Familiarity with HRIS / leave management software (like Workday).
Experience with benefits administration and payroll coordination.
