Degree Progress Analyst – Office of the Registrar (Temporary) The Degree Progress Analyst works independently, under general supervision of the Associate Registrar, on all policy, procedural, and analytical matters related to degree completion. The incumbent is the expert and resource for campus on all policy and procedural matters related to degree completion, including Title 5, Executive Orders and Coded Memoranda, Academic Senate policy, as well as major and General Education curricula at Cal Poly and in transfer.

As the campus expert, they clarify relevant policies for advisors, other campus constituents, and students, and assess and recommend changes that improve policies that may be detrimental. The position is a full‑time temporary role through December 31, 2026 and is eligible for full benefits, including medical, dental, vision and CalPERS retirement.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, analyze and recommend policy and procedural changes related to degree completion.

Interpret and apply Title 5, Executive Orders, Coded Memoranda, Academic Senate policy, and curricular requirements.

Provide guidance to advisors, faculty, staff and students on policy matters.

Collect, evaluate, and interpret data to support policy decisions.

Identify and recommend process improvements and creative solutions.

Key Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge in policies and procedures related to progress‑to‑degree and the Registrar’s Office.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to make sound recommendations.

Experience investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact.

Independent work ability and initiative to improve policies and procedures.

Excellent communication skills.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.

Three years of technical or administrative experience; a graduate degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $63,288 – $71,280 per year.

Classification Range: $63,288 – $92,208 per year.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and CalPERS retirement.
