Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist (Early Career) provides day‑to‑day support across core HR areas, including onboarding, HR operations, HRIS data accuracy, employee record management, benefits and leave assistance, compliance tracking, and employee experience initiatives.
This role is ideal for an early‑career HR professional with 3–5 years of hands‑on HR experience who can work independently on routine HR tasks while escalating complex matters to the HR Business Partner. The HR Generalist will serve as the first line of HR support for employees and managers, enabling HR Business Partners to focus on strategic initiatives such as workforce planning, organizational design, talent development, and leadership support.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Support
Maintain and update personnel files and digital employee records.
Enter, audit, and ensure accuracy of HRIS data.
Process lifecycle changes (new hires, job changes, terminations).
Support recurring HR reporting, auditing, and data tracking needs.
Serve as the first line of support for routine HR questions.
Escalate sensitive or complex matters to the HRBP.
2. Recruitment & Onboarding Coordination
Partner with Talent Acquisition to coordinate interview logistics when additional scheduling support is needed.
Serve as a backup resource to TA for: posting roles or facilitating candidate communication during peak periods or absences.
Preparing and processing pre‑employment and onboarding documentation (e.g., I‑9 verification, new‑hire paperwork, background check coordination).
Support onboarding logistics, including new‑hire orientation setup, systems coordination, and ensuring a smooth first‑day experience.
Maintain organized onboarding checklists and track completion of required onboarding tasks.
3. Benefits & Leave Support
Partner with benefits vendors or payroll for routine follow‑up.
Serve as an initial contact for routine benefits questions and direct employees appropriately.
Support tasks related to Open Enrollment and benefits communications.
Assist with tracking and documentation for leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, state leaves), escalating complex situations to the HRBP and/or Total Rewards.
Partner with benefits vendors or payroll for routine follow‑up.
4. Employee Relations & Engagement Support
Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, PTO, and processes.
Support HR‑driven engagement and recognition initiatives.
Assist with survey coordination, action item tracking, and communication.
5. Compliance & Policy Administration
Maintain required compliance postings, documentation, and records.
Track mandatory trainings and certifications to ensure compliance.
Assist in preparation for internal and external HR audits.
Help update and maintain HR policies, procedures, and templates.
6. HR Projects & Continuous Improvement
Contribute to HR initiatives focused on process improvement and employee experience.
Support data collection for compensation, job matching, and workforce planning projects.
Assist in coordinating learning, development, and manager training sessions.
Minimum Qualifications
3–5 years of professional HR experience required.
Prior HR Coordinator or HR Assistant experience strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field preferred.
Foundational knowledge of HR practices and basic employment law principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS systems preferred.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to take initiative while knowing when to seek guidance.
Organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Customer‑service oriented with a professional and approachable demeanor.
Ability to quickly learn and navigate HR systems and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to benefits, LOA coordination, or payroll processes.
Experience supporting HR audits or compliance activities.
Experience within manufacturing, life sciences, or technology industries.
HR certification (PHR, SHRM‑CP, or equivalent) preferred but not required.
