Salary:
$131,227 per year.
Responsibilities
Champion, coordinate, and drive continuous improvement of manufacturing and production quality systems, with a focus on leading the Quality Assurance Departments (Auditing, Problem Solving, Customer Care, Internal Quality) to improve root cause analysis, corrective action standardization, scrap reduction, and KPI improvement across die cast, stamping, plating, and machining operations.
Oversee and manage the component approval process and implement and monitor improved automotive part and component manufacturing processes, systems, tests, and methods to ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949) and Tier 1 OEM requirements.
Develop and implement improved standards, structures, workflows, production equipment layouts, and processes to support daily manufacturing operations, reduce waste and variation, and enhance return on capital investment.
Lead the development and application of standardized quality systems, including detailed instructions, APQP documents, error‑proofing, and automated quality control systems.
Direct and ensure consistency in internal and external quality checks, documentation, and sustainability.
Provide expert product design recommendations for new and existing parts to achieve world‑class performance.
Monitor and improve daily, weekly, and monthly Cost of Quality metrics, and develop strategies for Cost of Quality optimization.
Communicate quality problem resolution with internal and external customers to meet expectations.
Implement Six Sigma, Red X, and Kaizen methodologies to accelerate root cause resolution and corrective actions.
Manage up to ten associates in the Quality Assurance Department and oversee the Quality Management System, including IATF 16949 certification representation.
Define and communicate quality requirements to raw‑material suppliers, monitor performance, and implement strategies to ensure supplied materials meet STRATTEC standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Automotive, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
At least 3 years of product or quality engineering experience in the Tier 1 automotive part and component supplier industry, including analysis of engineering specifications, industry standards, and test specifications.
Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), new product risk assessment, BOM creation, engineering change notices, product validation strategies, and development of Failure Mode Prevention documentation such as DFMEA, Boundary and P‑Diagrams, and DRBFM.
Minimum 1 year of supervisory or management experience in the Tier 1 automotive part and component supplier industry, guiding product or quality engineering during product development and achieving engineering goals.
Very limited domestic (up to 1 week/yr) and international (up to 2 weeks/yr) travel to supplier locations.
