Job summary
Inspectors work throughout the plant but primarily at the end of the Upholstery line to inspect finished furniture before it is sent to the Shipping department. This position requires a close attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Summary of essential job functions
Inspects completed furniture for defects in finish, construction, or upholstery, to ensure conformance with manufacturing standards: Verifies color, pattern, and grade of upholstery, using ticket specifications
Inspects upholstery cover for rips in fabric or seams
Feels upholstery padding to determine if padding conforms to specified degree of firmness
Examines wooden surfaces for defects in assembly, wood, or finish
Removes wrinkles, using hand steamer and removes soil marks using cleaning fluid
May stamp or mark furniture to indicate acceptation or rejection
May repair minor defects in finish, using heated blade, wax, lacquer, and stain stick
Minimum requirements
High school diploma preferred, and previous furniture inspection experience highly preferred
Abilities required
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Attention to detail/high quality expectations
Must perform job with safety as a top priority
Must be able to show up to work on-time, every day, and take direction from supervisor(s)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to stand on feet for entire shift (8 to 10 hrs. per day)
Ability to get along with others and work in a team environment
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively on a daily basis
