Part-Time, 3.5 hours per day

JOB SUMMARY

The Cafeteria Monitor is responsible for supervising students during lunch service to ensure a safe, orderly, and positive cafeteria environment. This position is responsible for supervising students during meal service, providing guidance and assistance as needed, and helping children develop positive eating habits, manners, and social skills. The Cafeteria Monitor also assists with maintaining cafeteria cleanliness and supporting the smooth flow of meal service.

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Prior experience working with children is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students and staff.

Ability to follow directions, exercise good judgment, and complete assigned tasks efficiently.

Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES (Including, but not limited to, the following)

Supervise and manage student behavior during lunch service in accordance with school expectations and procedures.

Refer student behavior concerns to teachers or administrators following established school guidelines.

Communicate with students, staff, and cafeteria personnel in a positive, respectful, and professional manner.

Circulate throughout the cafeteria and designated eating areas to monitor student safety and assist students as needed.

Support the cleanliness and organization of cafeteria tables, floors, and surrounding areas, including recycling and trash disposal.

Assist with the orderly dismissal of classes at scheduled times.

Encourage appropriate table manners and respectful behavior.

Serve as a positive role model for students at all times.

Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and the public through telephone and in-person interactions. Must be capable of operating typical office equipment (computer, calculator, copier, fax machine). Physical requirements include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
