Position Summary The BIM & MEP Coordinator oversees the coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems while managing Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows throughout both the design and construction phases of projects. This role ensures that BIM and MEP coordination efforts are executed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations. Working closely with project managers, design consultants, trade partners, and field teams, the Coordinator proactively identifies and resolves coordination challenges prior to construction. This position is instrumental in advancing the company’s focus on innovation, efficiency, and excellence in project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

BIM & Design Coordination

Manage, maintain, and update all 3D models throughout construction and project closeout.

Develop and coordinate Revit models for MEP systems to support construction coordination and design‑assist efforts.

Lead coordination meetings with subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.

Perform clash detection and facilitate resolution across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.

Produce 3D virtual mockups to proactively identify and mitigate potential field conflicts.

Conduct laser scanning, process point cloud data, and model existing conditions in Revit.

Plan and execute drone flights to capture data for site analysis and progress documentation.

Project Coordination & Technical Oversight

Coordinate MEP system installations throughout all phases of construction.

Review MEP drawings, specifications, submittals, and plans for accuracy and compliance.

Identify design or constructability issues early and recommend solutions to avoid delays.

Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical challenges.

Perform site visits and inspections to track progress and ensure quality standards are met.

Compliance, Reporting & Safety

Ensure MEP installations meet applicable codes, regulations, and project requirements.

Prepare and distribute reports on BIM and MEP coordination progress, risks, and outcomes.

Support adherence to site safety standards related to BIM and MEP activities.

Assist with testing, commissioning, and turnover of MEP systems.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.

Experience: 3–5 years of MEP coordination experience, including at least 1 year of BIM modeling or coordination.

In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Procore, and Microsoft Office.

Experience with CMAR and/or Design‑Build delivery methods.

Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative, multi‑disciplinary environment.

Willingness to travel to project sites throughout California.

Valid driver’s license required.

FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

Experience on large-scale commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.

Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED, or MEP/BIM-related credentials.

Familiarity with drone data processing and 3D point cloud modeling.

Working Conditions

Primarily based on active construction sites with regular field visits.

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
