Manager of Operations - Lifting and Handling/Stagebuilding

Overview

This Manager of Operations reports to the Director Engineering at the Quonset Point Facility and is responsible for D920 Lifting & Handling and D925 Stage‑building on the second and third shifts, supporting the primary department managers. The role may also assist with second and third shift operations for D933, D950, D951, and D972. The successful candidate will lead the department’s performance in safety, quality, schedule, cost, and continuous improvement, ensuring safe and high‑quality lifting & handling and stage‑building services to meet aggressive construction schedules. The position requires strong leadership, analytical and problem‑solving skills, outstanding communication, and a thorough understanding of EBs business systems. The Manager will provide technical assistance and overall direction to area superintendents and supervisors, manage department performance, support primary managers with project management, control overhead and direct budgets/EAC, and promote a positive team environment. Key Responsibilities

Coordinate with external customers and internal partners/stakeholders. Deliver quality products/services and achieve quality objectives. Apply corrective actions to address deficiencies. Achieve cost/schedule objectives; adjust manpower, materials, and equipment as needed. Drive innovation and continuous improvement efforts to support program goals. Identify production facilities and equipment needs; consult with facility maintenance. Provide input on availability of production and non‑production material; consult with material planners and facilities. Process Enforce and comply with safety and environmental programs; monitor trends and ensure compliance; consult with responsible departments. Plan for risk identification and responsive mitigation strategies. Meet established annual operation, overhead, and capital budgets. People Plan for human resource needs through succession planning and talent management; input to recruiting and selection. Improve workforce readiness through training and development; collaborate with resource managers. Improve workforce performance and productivity; establish and communicate expectations; positively motivate the workforce. Monitor and improve workplace climate; reinforce desired values, behaviors, and maintain morale. Manage individual performance of area superintendents and operations supervisors; develop their technical and leadership skills. Collaborate with HR to establish pay adjustments and take appropriate disciplinary actions. Liaison with all production managers in multiple manufacturing departments for pertinent issues and matters related to their respective workforce and workplace. Required High school diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of supervisory/management experience. 8+ years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, manufacturing, construction, or related field(s). Availability to work all shifts including extended hours and weekends. Computer skills including MS Office and Project. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense. Preferred Bachelor of Science degree or higher. 10+ years of combined management and modular construction or manufacturing experience, especially in Lifting & Handling/Stage‑building. FLG and/or BLG graduate. Proficiency with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS). This position is IC eligible and located at the North Kingstown, RI location.
