Job Purpose This position oversees LPNs and other unlicensed assistive personnel in the performance of nursing care of assigned patients, maintaining a positive work relationship with the healthcare team, providing patient care and service, and performing HR activities within budget targets.
Responsibilities
Coordinates clinical operations and supervises, trains, and develops department staff to ensure quality assurance.
Performs performance evaluations for LPNs and other clinical/clerical staff as directed by the department manager.
Coordinates provider call schedule and provider staff clinic schedules and assignments.
Safely administers medication and prescribed therapies utilizing National Patient Safety Guidelines.
Provides safe, effective nursing care to ensure an effective patient visit.
Answers patients' questions, resolves issues and escalates concerns as needed.
Completes appropriate medical/legal documentation.
Adapts to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications Education
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
Work Experience
3 years of healthcare experience; 1 year of relevant leadership experience.
Certifications
Current LPN License in the state of practice.
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Preferred: IV Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability) and travel throughout and between facilities.
Physical and Environmental Demands Medium Work – requires exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The role requires exposure to blood, body fluid, tissue, and potential hazards such as hazardous medications and waste. Occupational risk for communicable diseases and hazardous substances applies.
