Position Overview NES Fircroft is supporting a U.S.-based energy organization in the search for a
Business Development Manager
to support the development and growth initiatives across Low Carbon Solutions, Clean Hydrogen, Upstream and Midstream Oil & Gas, Renewables and Power (including geothermal), and Critical Minerals. This role will be responsible for originating and evaluating new business opportunities, supporting commercial execution of projects, and building strategic partnerships across the U.S. energy market.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, originate, and develop high-quality business opportunities across energy and low-carbon sectors
Execute commercial activities related to project development, including contract drafting, contract negotiation, due diligence, and investment evaluation
Support project implementation through close coordination with technical, financial, and marketing teams
Prepare and manage commercial documentation, budgets, reports, economic models, and risk assessments
Lead and support internal review and approval processes for new and existing projects
Coordinate with external partners, advisors, and stakeholders to support project execution
Prepare materials for shareholder, board, and steering committee meetings as required
Identify commercial and administrative risks and propose mitigation strategies
Build and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders, business partners, financial institutions, and local authorities
Represent the organization at meetings, industry events, and external engagements
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
5–10 years of relevant experience within clean energy, natural resources, or related industries
Strong experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts
Proven ability to perform economic and financial analysis, including project evaluations
Experience with business analysis, putting together project presentations, including financial modelling, and reporting upwards to shareholders
Excellent communication, networking, and stakeholder management skills
Comfortable working in a multicultural and international environment
Ability to operate independently while collaborating with global teams
Preferred Experience
Commercial experience within hydrogen, ammonia, CCUS, upstream/midstream oil & gas, power, LNG, or renewable energy
MBA or advanced business qualification
Experience in project finance, sustainable fuels, LNG, chemicals, or carbon markets
Strong understanding of decarbonization strategies and energy transition solutions
