About the Role We are looking for a talented Supply Chain Analyst to join our Operations team for assisting OUP ANZ reach its financial and customer support goals by ensuring consistent and efficient management of the full supply chain including inbound freight, warehousing and distribution services.
Key Responsibilities Supply Chain Management
Ongoing review performance of 3PL supplier across both warehousing and distribution services to ensure delivery of services to requirements of contract
Ongoing review of performance of OUP across both warehousing and distribution services to requirements of contract
Drives effective and robust commercial supplier relationship management to ensure best practice operations. This includes change management activities for scope growth, claims and application of invoice credits for non-performance
Proactively manage activity‑based costs and supplier performance, within agreed SLA / KPIs including preparedness for seasonal demands, gratis management, stock disposal, etc.
Undertake annual review of performance exercise of contract performance with 3PL provider making agreed amends to KPIs, SLA, or contract terms if required.
Actively manage risks, issues and escalations
Identify areas of improvement and execute cost efficiencies, also negotiating best prices with new and existing suppliers
Ongoing engagement with key business stakeholders including Senior Management Team.
Establishment of an OUP ANZ Supply Chain Community bringing together Supply Planning, Production, Data and Customer Service to ensure that the supply chain is operating efficiently from end to end.
Operations Strategy
Identify opportunities to implement initiatives across supply chain, distribution, and warehouse operations with a commercial mindset, aiming to deliver efficiencies and reduce costs where appropriate.
Access and analyse data to inform and challenge operations processes and identify efficiencies.
Attend and actively contribute to team meetings and workshops.
Drive ideas to improve workflows and processes.
Support team building activities to improve morale and motivation, provide support to other colleagues in times of peak.
Shipping, Inbound Ordering and Export Ensure effective management of all in‑transit stock
Oversee the effective planning and management of all inbound shipments (Air/ Sea) from print suppliers and OUP branches including customs clearance and documentation
Ensure all Export freight quotes to enable customer order placement and timely and purchase at competitive pricing
Communications are handled promptly and efficiently
Consistent engagement with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure deliveries are delivered within time and budget
Delays/risks/issues communicated to stakeholders in a timely manner, and recommendations for resolution provided
Shipping costs managed within new established local or global agreements and to budget
Ensure SAP data relating to shipping, inbound ordering and exports is up to date. Oversee weekly NZ market despatch to honour commitments to NZ partner and customers
Reporting Monthly reporting on all inbound freight
Senior Management reporting pack around monthly activities and any updates to initiatives
Maintenance of dashboard reports to track and manage costs, shipping, warehousing and distribution KPIs, highlighting areas for improvement and plans for remediation.
Utilise reports to improve service and operational performance, including proactively providing peak times planning and other campaign information to 3PL provider to ensure they ramp up to meet demand and remain within On‑Time Delivery SLA
Work collaboratively with colleagues in other departments and branches
Be a key business partner across the organisation ensuring effective communication and collaboration to ensure the smooth flow of stock through the supply chain.
Work closely with colleague in Supply Planning to communicate requirements and determine any constraints to the plan that could affect execution or availability.
Work collaboratively with Sales and Customer Service to ensure smooth delivery and timely delivery of stock to customers.
Contribute to weekly Finance forecast meetings around warehouse performance and peak/key activities and highlight any risks.
Developed and demonstrated good working relationships with international stakeholders across Operations, Publishing, and across the broader OUPANZ and global teams.
Contributed to continuous improvement of workflows and processes.
SAP Key User
SAP processes are implemented and used effectively to manage the supply chain.
Systems and process improvements are identified, investigated for their feasibility and financial viability and any necessary project work is carried out.
Users of the system are kept up to date with any enhancements or changes.
Process, Policy, and Procedure
Review and update all documentation relating to supply chain ensuring they are up to date, relevant and maintained.
SAP processes are implemented and used effectively for warehousing and stock management.
Identify systems and process improvements and execute them.
About You
High proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Exposure and understanding of Power PI reporting
Be a strong decision maker with high attention to detail.
Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills with an ability to influence people and teams.
Demonstrate high proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, data manipulation, forecasting and forecasting methodologies with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
Experience working cross functionally to deliver results within an end‑to‑end value chain.
Experienced at presenting at cross functional meetings.
High level Excel skills.
Post‑secondary qualification
Knowledge of the Australian education market
Prior knowledge of SAP is desirable
Highly flexible working environment
Two work‑from‑home days per week and rostered Friday afternoons off (fortnightly)
