Position Type: Seasonal/Summer School Special Education Coordinator

Location: Jefferson Early Childhood Center
District: Community Unit School District 200
Instructional Leader Must have a thorough knowledge of special education, Special education law, IEP paperwork, District 200 policies and procedures (H.R., special education, etc.)
Training
Develop program plans and train staff: Emergency and Crisis Plans, Transportation System, teacher assistant training, etc.
Collaboration with staff
Provide guidance to staff regarding parent communication, individual student programming, behavior intervention plans, etc.
Coordinate related service staff: SLP, OT, PT, S.W., APE, Vision, Hearing, Mobility Specialists.
Hiring Procedures
Work collaboratively with ESY Director to hire special education teachers, complete interviews, check references and complete all paperwork for Human Resources.
Work collaboratively with ESY Director to hire teacher assistants, complete interviews, checks references and complete all paperwork for H.R.
Work collaboratively with ESY Director to hire OT, PT, SLP, S.W., Nurse, Behavior Intervention Specialist.
Supervision of Staff
Work with the ESY Director in supervising special education teachers, related service staff, ESY secretary and teacher assistants.
Transportation
Work directly with Special education secretary and bus company regarding any bus issues, changes, modifications and schedules.
Coordinate Materials/Equipment/AT / Computers
Work with teachers to coordinate shipping of student equipment to appropriate school locations.
Identify students needing Assistive Technology materials and training (coordinate with AT specialist to set up staff/student training).
Parent Communication
Develop and send communication to parents regarding school location, days, hours and teacher information.
Call parents to answer questions/concerns within 24 hours.
Work Schedule June 11th - July 14th (includes approximately 20 hours for set up in the Spring).
Certification Requirements
Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the LBS1 endorsement, or Administrative endorsement.
Administrative endorsement preferred .
