Position Summary The primary functions of an Assistant Manager are to coordinate and assist with the activities of employees engaged in loading, transferring, and operating equipment within the distribution yard.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist in meeting profit goals for the yard
Support the Yard Manager in identifying opportunities to improve net profit
Maintain key relationships with customers
Assist with negotiating customer pricing and communicating with new customers
Support Credit with overdue accounts receivable
Ensure pricing is properly set
Reach out to new customers and follow up on sales leads
Assist with post‑stock audit programs and communicate results to customers
Resolve customer complaints related to stocking and product quality
Negotiate with vendors and order board and materials in accordance with company purchasing guidelines
Maintain appropriate inventory levels and control yard shrinkage
Assist with accurate input and confirmation of sales orders, job information, and related reports
Ensure yard staffing levels meet delivery needs
Assist with maintenance and equipment protection programs
Attend monthly meetings to ensure operational alignment
Ensure yard safety procedures are followed
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Minimum of three to five years of related work experience
Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse operational tasks

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the time
Frequently move about inside office and distribution center environments
Ability to operate basic office machinery
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
Constantly work in both office and warehouse environments
Ability to identify safety and maintenance concerns
Ability to work long hours when required
Required Cognitive Skills
Ability to problem‑solve and prioritize tasks
Ability to manage stress across multiple yard locations
Ability to multitask efficiently
Ability to receive and analyze information accurately
Ability to communicate solutions quickly when issues arise
Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
