Payroll & Labor Compliance Specialist
role at Sun Energy Solar LLC. Sun Energy Solar is a rapidly growing electrical and mechanical contractor specializing in solar installation.
Responsibilities
Set up and maintain employee records in Miter (payroll and time tracking).
Process bi‑weekly payroll, including prevailing wage hours on public projects.
Manage earnings codes, tax schedules, deductions (insurance, 401(k), garnishments, reimbursements, bonuses, PTO accruals, etc.).
Review and process weekly timesheets, PTO requests, and payroll change forms.
Work with HR on employee onboarding, promotions, and terminations.
Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and support financial audits.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
Prepare year‑end reporting (W‑2, 1099, ACA forms).
Maintain strict confidentiality and safeguard employee payroll data.
Provide payroll support to employees (paycheck questions, deductions, PTO balances).
Continuously improve payroll processes for efficiency and compliance.
Requirements
6–10 years of experience in payroll processing, prevailing wage compliance, or public works labor compliance.
Knowledge of federal and state labor regulations (Inflation Reduction Act and Davis‑Bacon Act).
Familiarity with certified payroll systems and labor compliance audits.
Experience with payroll software (Foundation, Miter, etc.).
Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel required); experience with Bluebeam REVU or Adobe a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Job Type Full‑time
Pay Salary $55,000–$65,000 (based on experience)
Expected Hours 40 hours per week
