Parts Specialist/Material Planner

– MANCON, LLC.

Overview Parts Specialists/Material Planners provide counter service to MBTA Bus and Light rail employees who need parts/equipment to perform their duties. This hourly position starts at $20.00 and, based on union membership/seniority, can increase to $21.00 – $25.10.

Responsibilities

Provide quality customer service: attention to detail, meet and greet customers, review requisition forms for completeness, answer queries about parts availability, inform customers when requested parts are available, recommend min/max stocking levels, maintain a neat stock room, and perform regular cycle counts.

Stock Room Responsibilities

Understand warehouse storage plans and operations.

Perform manual counts and inventory reconciliation with 98% accuracy.

Conduct daily cycle counts at a 98% accuracy rate.

Verify materials against receiving, shipping, storage and inventory documents, reporting discrepancies and damage.

Route materials to prescribed storage locations and stack/palletize materials per prescribed methods.

Manage inventory of received, shipped and stored materials daily.

Examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage.

Remove material from storage to prepare for turn‑in.

Process and affix paperwork for receipt, shipment, storage, pick/pack and other reports.

Conduct causative research for misidentified, damaged or non‑located material.

Operate hand or power trucks and/or forklifts during warehousing duties.

Parts Pickup: occasionally drive vehicle to designated vendors, provide vendor documentation such as tax‑exempt forms or credit references, review vendor invoices for pricing and quantity accuracy, and return products to MANCON promptly.

Data Entry: generate customer requisitions in the inventory system, enter vendor receiving documents, receive, stow and catalog inbound inventory.

Other Requirements: support the MBTA location during emergencies, receive material from the main warehouse and other base locations by 8:00 a.m., adhere to required procedures, wear location‑specific personal protective equipment at all times, and wear company‑provided shirts daily.

Physical Requirements Medium work – exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly to move objects.

Essential Requirements

Lifting, Reaching, Sitting, Standing, Walking.

Qualifications

1 year computer experience.

Warehouse, stockroom, or inventory management experience.

Obtain and maintain a forklift license.

Preferred Qualifications

1 year inventory experience.

1 year customer service role.

Experience with inventory/point‑of‑sale applications.

Experience with bus or light rail parts.

Familiarity with automotive, bus, or rail parts.

Automotive certification programs considered with experience.

Ability to communicate in English.

Valid driver’s license.
