Mortenson is currently seeking a

Superintendent II

who will coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within a specific disciplinary area, whilst developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement to ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule

Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability

Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies

Develop and manage project schedules, including three and six‑week look‑ahead schedules

Develop a site logistics plan and manage the utilisation of Mortenson tools and equipment

Collaborate with project partner superintendents

Conduct on‑site project orientations, pre‑construction planning sessions, and project site meetings

Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews; interview, hire, transfer, and terminate craft team members as needed

Coach and mentor assistant superintendents, craft team members, and other project team members

Ensure proper task coding of work hours on timecards, track work progress and craft productivity

Handle craft team member training and conduct career development discussions

Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organisational levels

Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance

Provide high‑level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team members

Recognise and mitigate unfavourable working conditions and identify opportunities to improve processes and procedures

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience

Minimum 8 years construction management or related experience

Current driver’s licence

Ability to fulfil development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects

Detail‑oriented with the ability to organise and manage multiple project tasks

Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices

Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills

Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies

Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback

Ability to travel up to 100%

Compensation Base pay range: $126,300 - $189,500. Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%. Position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
