This is a full‑time position with the Abdul for Senate campaign, and is expected to conclude in May 2026, with potential to extend to November 2026. Field Organizing Manager will be paid a monthly salary of $6,000 per month, commensurate with experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION Abdul for Senate is seeking talented candidates to work as a Field Organizing Manager for the 2026 election cycle. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to our mission of electing Abdul El‑Sayed our next U.S. Senator.

Role Overview:

The Field Organizing Manager is responsible for overseeing the massive volunteer field network that we’ll build to send Abdul to the U.S. Senate. That will include program design, volunteer recruitment and leadership development, team building and coordination, and voter contact activities. This will be a full‑time position based in Ann Arbor, MI, although there is flexibility with remote work and a relocation timeline. This position offers compensation in the form of a monthly salary and healthcare benefits.

Responsibilities

Develop, with campaign leadership, a comprehensive field plan (timeline, goals, metrics) for voter contact (canvassing, phone/text/door), volunteer recruitment, GOTV (Get Out The Vote), persuasion, persuasion targeting, and turnout in key geographies

Allocate resources (staff, volunteer time, budget, materials) across regions (counties, districts, precincts) to maximize return

Recruit, train, mentor, and manage field volunteers across various roles and a statewide network of localized teams

Develop volunteer leadership programs so volunteers take on leadership roles (team captains, local organizers, etc)

Oversee execution of specified voter contact programs (eg. canvassing or events) and ensure quality control: script adherence, data capture, feedback loops, issue resolution

Build capacity in the field: ensure staff and key volunteers understand data tools (VAN / Votebuilder / other), turfing, targeting, volunteer management

Work closely with data / targeting teams to refine lists, turf, prioritize contacts, and adjust ground strategy in response to field results

Plan and lead the GOTV phase: early voting, absentee/mail ballot strategy, election day operations

Coordinate election day logistics: transportation, poll watchers, precinct coverage, volunteer shifts, material distribution

Coordinate with allied groups to maximize alignment and avoid duplication; possibly joint outreach or coalition work

Procure and manage field infrastructure: offices, vehicles, materials, phones/tablets, etc.

Provide regular (weekly/bi‑weekly) reports to campaign leadership on progress vs. goals, challenges, adjustments

Use data to drive continuous improvement: After major milestones, facilitate internal debriefs and document lessons learned

Coordinate with other campaign departments to ensure field efforts are leveraged fully (media, social, earned, etc.)

Ensure safety, legal compliance, and risk management in field operations

Qualifications (Required)

Ability to translate strategy into concrete tactics; know when to shift tactics; strong judgment under pressure

Highly proficient with VAN/Votebuilder and other relevant tools (mapping software, phone‑bank/text platforms, spreadsheets, project management tools, etc.)

Strong familiarity with voter files (VAN / VoteBuilder or equivalent), targeting, turfing, metrics. Comfortable working with data to inform decisions

Recruiting, training, retaining volunteers; creating leadership pipelines. Strong people management, coaching, and customer service skills

Excellent project management; able to juggle many moving parts; strong attention to detail

Comfortable overseeing complex logistics: event planning, supply chain, field offices, transportation

A minimum of 3 years in field organizing / field directing, preferably for U.S. Senate, gubernatorial, or other large scale state or federal campaigns

Must have transportation to attend events as needed

Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive

Willingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends, and travel frequently throughout the state

Superior written and verbal communication skills

Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions

Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast‑paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail

Commitment to electing Abdul El‑Sayed to the U.S. Senate

Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways

Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross‑cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability

Qualifications (Preferred)

Previous U.S. Senate campaign experience (or similar high‑stakes/competitive federal campaign).

Understanding of rules/regulations around GOTV, canvassing, voter registration, absentee/mail ballots in Michigan

Experience managing GOTV programs in large, diverse states (with rural, suburban, and urban field operations)

Experience working with coalition partners, community orgs, unions, etc

Fluency in any of the following languages besides English: Spanish, Arabic, Bangla, Chinese

Experience directly managing/staffing a principal is a significant plus

Previous experience working in Michigan is a significant plus
