Responsibilities
Partner with supervisors and managers in the clinical operation of perioperative services to provide payroll and HR support.
Process payroll for 100+ staff, including work in OneStaff and Mpathways for bargained and non-bargained employees.
Track overtime and ensure mandatory logs are up to date and accurate.
Create and submit a variety of PARs, including FTE changes, additional pay, job title changes, and more.
Coordinate hiring and termination processes, ensuring onboarding and offboarding steps are completed and hiring/termination PARs are submitted.
Accurately track FTE and unit staff, assisting supervisors/manager to keep a “current state” staffing picture compared to the model.
Serve as a subject‑matter expert for HR questions for staff and supervisors.
Create daily schedules that are printed and posted for staff each day, along with other administrative duties to support the perioperative operation.
Create, manage, and update blue folders for all staff to ensure proper compliance.
Assist with tuition reimbursement, expense reimbursement, MNA reimbursements, and coordinate travel for staff within the unit.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
1+ years working with AFSCME payroll.
Excellent customer‑service skills and strong verbal and written communication.
Energetic, assertive, highly motivated with a positive, professional attitude.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the interdisciplinary team in a fast‑paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively, prioritizing and completing tasks accurately and timely.
Comfortable and proficient working in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and basic word processing and spreadsheet applications (Google or Microsoft preferred).
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with an additional bargaining agreement (SEIU, UMPNC, UMMAP) preferred.
Experience working with bargained‑for staff preferred.
1–3 years of experience in a hospital clinical setting.
Excellent attendance record and experience with University of Michigan Health System policies.
Work Schedule 40 hours, Monday through Friday with a combination of working remote and on‑site.
Modes of Work Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time.
Background Screening Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre‑employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third‑party administrator to conduct background screenings, in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre‑employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U‑M campuses.
