Business Development Manager – Data Center Applications – Air Moving
The primary function of this role is to accelerate the growth of sales in the Power Efficiency Solutions (PES) Segment – focused on air moving technologies used in data center thermal management solutions and others. Primary duties include building a robust project funnel, revenue goal achievement, implementing a sales plan to drive profitable growth, and executing the plan. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in data center thermal management applications, energetic, persuasive, well‑organized and able to demonstrate the ability to sell strategically. Define and execute effective sales strategies, business development, marketing, technical, and sales support programs to maximize sales and profitability.
In this position you will be responsible for accelerating growth and achieving sales targets across our PES segment. This includes managing a full sales cycle, developing strategic plans, and maintaining strong relationships with OEMs and key decision‑makers in the data center market.
Key Responsibilities
Meet or exceed sales targets while providing detailed and accurate sales forecasts.
Demonstrated success in pursuing long‑cycle business development with complex equipment manufacturers (OEM), including the engineering qualification process.
Identify and influence large capital projects with typically long sales cycles, deployed in data centers.
Create and maintain projects in CRM, driving opportunities from lead, to bid, to close, and from order to cash.
Develop and implement strategic sales plans and establish standard work for data center customers, promoting sales growth and customer satisfaction.
Drive specification and end‑user demand for PES air moving end‑to‑end solutions, pulling through sales of centrifugal fans, axial fans, motors, controls, accessories, and others.
Monitor customer and market trends and clearly communicate risks and opportunities to leadership.
Lead quarterly business and monthly performance reviews.
Negotiate customer contracts and programs as required.
Establish effective relationships with key influencers in data center projects and work with OEMs to qualify RRX technologies.
Gather detailed information about data center customers and project opportunities, identify key decision‑makers, understand strategic business challenges and priorities, and lead the team to successful project wins.
Drive commercial and product strategies to outpace market growth of the data center vertical.
Ensure high post‑sales satisfaction, facilitating positive long‑term relationships and repeat business with accounts.
Cultivate business and market development growth opportunities by promoting value propositions to meet customer needs.
Contribute to a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement.
Demonstrate technical product training and effectively communicate features, benefits, and advantages over the competition.
Required Skills and Qualifications
BS in Business, Marketing, Engineering or a related field or 10+ years of relevant experience.
5+ years of commercial experience in the HVAC and/or data center space.
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Strong, passionate customer focus.
Sales experience focusing on distributors, contractors, consultants, and end‑users.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines.
Strong computer skills – experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams).
Ability to work independently and remotely.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Experience with 80/20 and Power BI.
High level of personal initiative, energy, and ownership of business results.
Expected Base Salary Range:
$130k - $160k + Incentives
Location:
Remote. Major US Markets (preferably Northern Virginia, Dallas, or Northern California). Other major metropolitan areas considered for the right candidate.
Travel:
50%+
