Program Manager – Enterprise and Strategic Initiatives

What you'll do The Program Manager, Enterprise and Strategic Initiatives, will drive key strategic projects that shape the future of H&R Block’s Assisted channel experience for assisted tax associates and, through them, our clients. Reporting to the Director, Assisted Strategic Experience, this role requires a detail‑oriented and proactive individual with strong project management skills and a commitment to delivering impactful results. The Program Manager will oversee initiatives such as enhancing the Small Business experience within the Assisted channel, the Entity Tax Engine development, and Tax Pro Help.
Responsibilities
Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to scope, and alignment with strategic objectives.
Project Execution: Lead the execution of strategic projects such as enhancing the Small Business experience within the Assisted channel and rolling out new systems or processes to H&R Block’s tax offices.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements, share insights, and ensure successful implementation of strategic initiatives.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance operational effectiveness.
Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to understand industry trends, client and associate needs, and potential areas for strategic initiatives.
Reporting and Documentation: Develop comprehensive reports and documentation to track progress, outcomes, and lessons learned from strategic projects.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for strategic initiatives.
Training and Support: Provide input into the training and support offered for teams involved in strategic projects.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with strategic projects.
Performance Metrics: Collaborate with leadership to establish KPIs and performance metrics for strategic projects and track progress towards achieving these goals.
What you'll bring to the team
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.
8 years minimum related work experience.
Program management experience leading large programs that involve significant business change.
Demonstrated track record of establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
Advanced oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills to communicate with and persuade a wide range of audiences.
Experience leading and influencing in a matrix management environment.
Strong critical thinking, collaboration, and continuous improvement mindset.
It would be even better if you also had
Master of Business Administration.
Prior program/project experience.
Formal project management certifications or training, or equivalent.
Tax or financial industry background.
Deep knowledge and experience in the Assisted Tax business within H&R Block.
