Job Description and Duties Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full‑Time Program Assistant (Mental Disabilities‑Safety) position. Interested applicants must possess strong leadership and analytical skills, communicate effectively, and can work independently in identifying the need for developing proposed changes in the department’s practices and procedures. A Training and Development (T&D) assignment may be considered.
Incumbents will be responsible for assisting the Program Director in the administration of a treatment program providing care for forensic clients, patients, or inmates. The Program Assistant assists the Program Director in the planning, development, and implementation of major components of hospital‑wide treatment and services. This includes participation in program quality improvement activities; performing problem solving and troubleshooting of program activities to assure effective treatment of customers and achievement of program goals; and acting based on identified problems and proposed solutions.
Other duties include assisting in the planning, establishment, and implementation of program goals, objectives, and activities; assisting in setting priorities and establishing program, hospital, and departmental policies and procedures to achieve desired results. Assists Program Director in a staff capacity with the administration of treatment program for patients in a state hospital and ensuring that treatment activities conform to applicable statutes, policies of the Hospital and Department, and regulations and standards from other governmental and nongovernmental agencies, including but not limited to State Licensing and Joint Commission. Monitors and evaluates the provision of services by the program’s non‑nursing clinicians, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and rehabilitation therapists. Oversees development of curricula providing treatment in STP, coordinates data collection of fidelity and outcome evaluation, and maintains and evaluates the overall operation of the PSR Structured Treatment Program (STP).
Directly supervises program’s chaplains, nursing staff, rehabilitation therapists, social workers, and other non‑nursing clinical staff, as delegated by the Program Director. Assists the Program Director with responsibility for staffing of the program; takes responsibility for ensuring adequate coverage to carry out the program’s daily operations. Incumbents will also be assigned to write reports and provide coverage.
Statement of Qualifications Candidates must include a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) of no more than one (1) page in Arial 11‑point font clearly identifying in detail, applicable knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience and dates as it pertains to this position.
