Purpose of Position American Track, a proud member of North American Rail Solutions (NARS), is seeking a reliable and dependable Class A CDL Driver to join our team. The CDL Driver is responsible for transporting heavy equipment and material to and from job sites, operating in a manner that optimizes company efficiency, and achieving daily and weekly goals, including driving to designated locations, verifying loads, maintaining duty status records per state and federal regulations, and performing pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections.

Major Responsibilities

Properly secure heavy equipment or material for transport while ensuring all loads conform to local, state, and federal regulations.

Load and unload heavy equipment or materials for transportation, including proper securement and binding for safe transport to job sites.

Drive truck to and from designated destinations for up to 11 hours with a maximum of 14 hours total as DOT rules allow.

Safely drive a Class‑A truck hauling equipment on a flatbed/low‑boy trailer in a variety of conditions, including urban, suburban, and rural environments.

Perform daily pre‑ and post‑trip inspections/safety checks with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.

Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.

Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance to keep vehicles in safe operation condition.

Follow all DOT regulations and company safety driving guidelines and policies.

Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver’s record of duty status, mileage records and other records required by law.

Obey all applicable traffic laws.

Keep truck in a clean and orderly condition.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements Education Required

High School Diploma or GED.

Work Experience Required

At least 3 years of proven experience driving Class A vehicles.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Valid Class A driver's license and medical card required.

May require a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).

Clean driving record.

Ability to pass DOT physical and drug test.

Must be able to operate manual transmission (13‑speed).

Alert, focused, and detail‑oriented.

Strong knowledge of Federal and State DOT laws.

Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Exceptional time management and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent hand‑eye coordination with the ability to reach quickly to unforeseen situations.

Must be able to lift and carry items weighing at least 50 pounds.

Proficient using GPS and other routing systems.
