Job Summary
The Team Leader assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in executing operational, sales, and merchandising objectives to deliver a Legendary Customer Experience. The role promotes a safe, productive workplace and trains team members on policy and procedure application.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Uphold and enforce safety policies to create a productive environment.
Deliver Legendary Customer Service using the GURA method:
Greet the customer
Uncover Customer’s needs & wants
Recommend product solutions
Ask to add value & appreciate the customer
Perform daily activities (approximately 95% of time):
Execute basic, promotional, and seasonal merchandising activities.
Perform opening/closing procedures.
Transport and deposit to bank.
Assess store conditions and assign duties.
Organize workflow via daily planner.
Recover merchandise.
Participate in freight processes.
Conduct price change activities.
Resolve customer complaints and ensure a Legendary shopping experience.
Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to alarms.
Communicate job functions, responsibilities, and financial goals to team members.
Operate cash register/computer and supervise cash handling.
Assist team members on policies and procedures.
Sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks, care for birds as required.
Operate forklift and baler.
Complete all associated documentation.
Obtain required licenses or certifications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge preferred.
Preferred supervisory experience.
Minimum age 18 with a valid driver’s license.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; reading, writing, and counting skills required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
Basic computer skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution.
Accurate reading, writing, and counting.
Capability to perform core responsibilities of team members.
Working Conditions
Indoor and outdoor work; moderate noise and variable lighting/temperature.
Shift lengths vary; typically 4–8+ hours.
Outdoor work in adverse weather possible.
Hard surface floors and lots (concrete, asphalt).
Physical Requirements
Move merchandise up to 50 lbs.
Push/pull up to 2,000 lbs with proper equipment.
Lift/reach overhead occasionally.
Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, climb ladders frequently.
Operate store equipment (computer, cash register, forklift, baler, dolly, hand truck).
Read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Process information/merchandise via POS system.
Handle poultry contact.
Complete required training and certification (including propane dispensing, if applicable).
Travel for district support as needed.
Drive/operate a vehicle for business needs.
