Location:
Tate & Lyle flagship facility in Lafayette, Indiana. West Lafayette is home to Purdue University and offers a vibrant downtown area with easy access to Indianapolis, Chicago, and Louisville.
Work Schedule:
12‑hour shifts on a rotating 3 days on / 3 days off schedule. Candidates must work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as part of the rotation. Overtime may be required during peak production periods or to cover absences.
About the Role and Impact Process Operators focus on setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting manufacturing production equipment, including:
Operating machine tool, chemical processing, assembly, or packaging equipment to manufacture products according to production specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards.
Moving, packing, and sorting raw materials or finished goods.
Monitoring the quality of output to identify, discard, or re‑manufacture faulty products.
Maintaining accurate daily production records.
Main Accountabilities
Package final product for distribution (Process Support: Warehouse & Packaging).
Obtain in‑process samples and run required test specifications.
Diagnose, operate, correct, and manage the outcomes of complex processing systems (mechanical and chemical) utilizing a real‑time ERP system (OS PI).
Deliver effective turnover to the incoming team through verbal and written communication (logbook).
Safely perform all required duties, including writing permits, performing safety audits, monthly training topics, and daily safety messages.
Produce quality products, record all information in process quality assurance tests, and take appropriate actions to correct deviations.
Perform environmental checks per permits to ensure compliance.
Maintain a clean work environment per Good Manufacturing Practices.
Learn all aspects of Process Operation via a progressive training program and demonstrate proficiency.
Train other operators.
Perform basic maintenance duties and assist the maintenance team when directed.
Operate forklift.
Monitor control centers, review information, make independent and informed decisions, and operate equipment safely and efficiently.
Isolate and secure energy sources – perform LOTO and LTT.
Desired Qualifications
Ability to wear personnel protective equipment (PPE), safety shoes, hearing protection, safety goggles, and hard hats.
Physical capability to climb flights of stairs/ladders, bend, lift, push, pull, and stand for 12‑hour shifts on a rotating schedule.
