Position Overview And Responsibilities This position serves as a Purchasing Specialist in the Division of State Purchasing. This position requires a natural curiosity to explore innovative solutions, stay up to date on industry trends, and continuously seek improvements in procurement processes. This is an exciting opportunity to obtain hands‑on experience in government contracting, create value for state agencies, and serve the State of Florida.

The day‑to‑day responsibilities for this position include providing in‑depth research and analytical support for a variety of procurement projects and drafting contract documents. This position’s responsibilities also include developing and executing procurement strategies that are designed to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize cost for government contracts.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Effective communication and active listening skills to interface with many different stakeholder groups, including public procurement officials, vendors, state agencies, or other governmental entities

Critical thinking skills to analyze and apply research to make informed, strategic, and efficient decisions

Ability to maintain a strong attention to detail when analyzing and preparing complex contract documents

Ability to multi‑task on different projects to meet deadlines

Ability to be resourceful and curious, and take initiative to learn and apply new procurement strategies

Ability to interpret and analyze complex contract documents and data related to contract spend

Proficient in standard office applications

Ability to work independently and in a group setting when necessary

Exhibits excellent writing skills catered to a variety of audiences

Knowledge of Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Code

Participates in moderately complex negotiations

Minimum Qualifications

1 year professional experience in procurement, market research, or contracts

Preferred Qualifications

Florida Certified Contract Manager (FCCM)

Experience using MyFloridaMarketPlace, Ariba, and Tableau
