Recreation Coordinator – City of Plano
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to coordinate recreation classes and activities for all age groups at the Liberty Recreation Center.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate recreation classes for all age groups, interests and abilities; oversee day‑to‑day operations, class and membership registration, and monetary transactions.
Create and formulate class ideas; recruit and hire class instructors; determine class schedules and fees; prepare program information for brochure publication and registration.
Register and enroll participants; inform participants of class changes, cancellations and refunds; evaluate class instructors and class programs.
Prepare and maintain attendance reports and enrollment and program evaluations on a daily, weekly and monthly basis (quarterly for program evaluations).
Lead work activities of designated personnel and volunteers; oversee activities of part‑time staff; recruit and participate in hiring new instructors, coaches and assistants.
Contact local businesses, individuals and community organizations for program support and participation.
Investigate and resolve citizen complaints concerning classes, instructors or facility; promote classes through various entities.
Monitor the use of recreation equipment and facilities; assist in cleaning and maintaining equipment; order supplies and equipment as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration or related field (experience may be substituted for education).
Minimum one (1) year of experience developing and implementing recreation programs.
Knowledge of recreation programming and facilities planning; supervisory principles; conflict resolution; safety policies and procedures; various recreational activities, leagues and programs; teaching and instruction methods for diverse learning styles.
Skill in communicating clearly, both verbally and in writing; applying first aid and CPR; operating a personal computer and peripheral equipment; creating marketing and promotional materials; preparing and maintaining records.
Texas Class C driver’s license; American Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications (additional certifications may be required).
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 25 lbs, standing, walking and operating standard office equipment.
