Research Administrator The

Research Administrator

will be the driving force behind impactful clinical and translational research in the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine, supporting exceptional grant administration and financial stewardship of pre‑and post‑award research administration tasks. This role will primarily assist faculty with grant applications, contracts, and reports while managing budgets, award setups, expenditures, and financial reconciliation for sponsored research projects.

The pre‑award component includes directly working with principal investigators and/or research staff to prepare, route, and submit funding proposals to sponsors. Reviewing, advising, and assisting faculty in developing and submitting grant applications, contract proposals, progress, and final reports.

Post‑award tasks include directly working with principal investigators and research staff to budget, complete award set‑up, monitor expenditures, and reconcile financial data for sponsored programs. This includes processing accounting transactions such as cost transfers, sub‑award management, and financial projections related to sponsored project management.

Key responsibilities

Reviews and approves sponsored project transactions across the full project lifecycle to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor requirements

Manages proposal submission, contract negotiation, award setup, and related research administration operations

May submit proposals, agreements, and invoices on behalf of principal investigators or project directors

Oversees financial compliance, audits, and reporting

Provides training to faculty, staff, and administrators on sponsored project policies, procedures, and execution

Qualifications

Two years or more of experience in grant management (pre and/or post award)

Prior budget management experience of federally funded projects

Knowledge of federal, state, foundation, or industry funding mechanisms preferred
