is seeking a Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM) Heavy Equipment Operator to provide heavy equipment operator (HEO) services at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
Position Summary This Technical/Support II position is available with Colorado State University (CSU) and the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). The operator will work in support of the Army’s Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) Program, completing soil stabilization and vegetation management activities on Army lands.
Primary duties include operating heavy equipment such as 10‑to‑25‑ton dump trucks, dozers, motor graders, front‑in loaders, vibratory compactors, scrapers, forestry mowers (FECON), track hoes, agricultural tractors, and backhoes. The role also requires daily and weekly reporting and works fully in‑person on the installation.
Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment to complete LRAM projects.
Perform soil stabilization and vegetation management activities.
Track and prepare daily and weekly reports.
Maintain equipment in good working order.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly.
Follow directions, work collaboratively with team members, and maintain safe working standards.
Required Job Qualifications
Valid driver's license meeting CSU standards.
Unrestricted installation access.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship is available.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
At least 2 years’ experience running and maintaining heavy equipment, including dozers, motor graders, front‑in loaders, forestry mowers, agricultural tractors, backhoes, and skid steers.
Experience driving pickup trucks with and without trailers.
Capability to work outdoors, perform physically strenuous labor under all weather conditions, and lift 40 pounds repeatedly.
Team‑work orientation and adherence to safety standards.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in soil stabilization, land clearing, site preparation, and site revegetation.
Experience with land rehabilitation, horizontal construction techniques, and erosion control practices, including State and/or EPA Best Management Practices (BMPs) for Clean Water Act compliance.
Commercial driver's license (CDL).
Experience operating 10‑to‑25‑ton dump trucks and 2000‑gallon water trucks.
Work Location Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Position is fully in‑office/in‑person and may depend on project needs.
