Mortgage Loan Officers will conduct loan interviews and collect all pertinent information needed for verification and underwriting purposes. They employ sales and service techniques to ensure loans are processed and closed according to established mortgage guidelines and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 1. Assumes responsibility for the effective and timely performance of assigned functions. Conduct loan interviews, answer inquiries, and process applications in a timely manner of all real estate requests made by telephone and internet.

Counsels applicants during the loan process, obtaining additional information when necessary and keeping applicants updated as to the status of their application.

Prepares mortgage disclosures, collects contract (if applicable) and all other documents required, and ensures all necessary documentation is signed by applicants.

Prepares approved loans for closing, draws closing documents, schedules closing appointments and conducts closing. Also preparing file for final funding.

Completes HMDA on all mortgage loans originated.

Evaluates applicant financial information including salary, assets, debts, and expenses.

Verifies the accuracy of all applicant data provided.

Certifies compliance is met with all regulations.

2. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional business relations with customers, other financial institutions, and merchants. Establishes, develops, and maintains referral network with professionals such as pool builders who can provide an on-going source of referrals.

Analyzes potential lending opportunities involved in each lending situation to further assist the borrower as well as increase the credit union’s lending portfolio.

Maintains professional relationships with partners such as Member First Mortgage, Certified Funding, Achieva, and Truhome.

Timely and effectively processes indirect loans.

3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relations with Company personnel and with management. Communicates effectively and professionally with teammates, other departments, management, and mortgage partners related to mortgage inquiries.

Completes any internal requests by email or phone.

Assists other departments including and related to mortgage inquiries.

4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. Maintains understanding of the credit union’s loan policy, and loan products and services.

Ensures that the credit union’s lending practices follow state and federal regulations.

Qualifications Education/Certification Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience and education.

Required Knowledge Knowledge of Texas mortgage rules and regulations.

Knowledge of Credit Union products and services, policies, and procedures.

Knowledge of credit union computer software, including Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of lending rules and regulations.

Comprehensive of direct lending procedures.

Knowledge of credit union practices culture, rules, and regulations.

Experience Required Two years of related experience.

Skills/Abilities Excellent communication and public relations skills.

Ability to analyze accounts.

Ability to express ideas effectively and speak clearly.

Ability to use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Ability to follow instructions and respond to management directions.

Ability to assess multiple tasks or issues which are competing for limited amount of time or resources and effectively determine order in which each will be addressed, ability to set priorities, and to track both complete and incomplete activities.
