PLC Programmer
Vicksburg Forest Products (Big River Forest Products, LLC – BRFP) is building a state‑of‑the‑art lumber mill in Gloster, Mississippi. The new facility will manufacture lumber starting May 2024 and create over 100 jobs.
Overview We are seeking a PLC Technician / Programmer to troubleshoot electrical, instrumental and process malfunctions, including mechanical power transmission equipment and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot electrical machinery and control equipment in the plant (sawmill, planer, boiler‑kiln areas).
Coordinate work processes with production and maintenance leadership.
Interpret PLC logic and modify it to restore equipment functionality.
Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated conditions and record results.
Implement new control systems to improve equipment efficiency.
Provide technical assistance and problem resolution before, during, and after construction.
Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot or repair electrical instruments or testing equipment.
Conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs, reporting findings and recommendations.
Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design‑related problems.
Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies or systems to correct functional deviations.
Use precision measurement tools and equipment to calibrate and adjust equipment.
Comply with government health, safety, and environmental guidelines, following all OSHA regulations.
Required Skills
2–5 years of industrial electrical experience.
Strong knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of Process Control Instrumentation.
Industrial electricity and motor controls and diagnostics experience.
Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and related controls.
Previous experience with power distribution systems.
Ability to use laser/thermal guns and temposonic/linear position sensors.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
Troubleshooting skills (locating, isolating, testing and selecting effective solutions).
Strong PC and maintenance system skills.
Excellent technical aptitude, safety and quality record, time management skills.
General PLC/Electrical knowledge (soldering, splicing, meter reading, AC/DC motors, schematics reading, SLC/PLC systems, electrical codes, laser scanning, sorting/stacking systems).
Environmental Conditions
Must tolerate extreme hot, humid, cold, and outdoor conditions. Comfortable working in loud environment, around moving machinery, with vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
