Waukee Community School District is seeking a skilled, solutions-driven HVAC Technician to join our Facilities team. This is an opportunity to use your expertise to support a fast-growing district and ensure comfortable, safe learning environments for students and staff.
What You’ll Bring
High School diploma or equivalent
Master HVAC License, preferred
6–7 years of hands‑on experience
Basic plumbing knowledge preferred (not required)
What You’ll Do As a key member of our Facilities & Operations team, you will:
HVAC, Air Handling & Ventilation
Maintain and repair exhaust fans (bearings, belts, grease, etc.)
Service and repair air handling units—including bearings, belts, motors, pulleys, and springs
Clean coils, pans, and drains and repair/replace dampers, motors, and seals
Use
Metasys
(building automation system) to check temps, airflow, damper operations, and troubleshoot issues
Pumps, Motors & Mechanical Systems
Maintain and repair all pumps and motors: rebuild units, replace components, grease bearings, and install seals
Diagnose problems across all HVAC systems, identify required parts, source pricing, order, and pick up parts when needed
Change filters in all air‑handling equipment
Cooling, Heating & Water Systems
Maintain A/C equipment, including coil cleaning, controls, refrigerant, and diagnostics
Maintain closed‑loop systems (chilled and heating water), including chemical management
Manage water treatment for condenser systems—adjust chemicals, maintain chemical pumps and injectors, test water, and order supplies
Service cooling towers (cleaning, bearings, belts, couplings, etc.)
Clean and maintain all pump strainers
Boilers & Building Systems
Maintain and repair boilers, controls, pumps, flues, drain lines, and piping
Diagnose boiler issues and complete necessary repairs
Coordination & Operations
Work directly with outside contractors to schedule and support repairs
Use our work order system to track and manage daily tasks
Use
Metasys
to identify system issues and respond to emergency needs
