Mechanical Engineer, Journeyman
KAIROS, Inc. is a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) headquartered in California, MD, seeking an energetic, experienced Mechanical Engineer at the Journeyman level to join our team. The position is onsite at a contractor site in Great Mills, MD, with occasional visits to Webster Outlying Field (WOLF) in St. Inigoes, MD and various Patuxent River Naval Base facilities in Lexington Park, MD. Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will provide Engineering (Journeyman) support to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Webster Outlying Field (NAWCAD WOLF), supporting the Unmanned Carrier Aviation (UCA) Program Activity with UCA Mission Control System (UMCS) engineering and design support activities. Primary Duties
The candidate will provide engineering and drafting support efforts for the UCA projects, including: Developing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering documentation for product integration, installation, interface design analysis, fielding, and operational maintenance. Creating and managing drawings and documents consistent with UCA configuration management practices. Skills and Qualifications
Experience in engineering, analysis, and integration of equipment/systems and subsystems. Proficiency with CAD software and analysis tools (structural and thermal analysis); Autodesk Inventor preferred. Familiarity with ASME Y14.000 drafting standard preferred. Experience with systems engineering framework and reviews such as Systems Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, and Critical Design Review. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material selection, and design for manufacturability. Experience with design, development, installation, and maintenance of rack‑mounted communications systems, including aircraft and ship‑based equipment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for professional interfacing at all levels. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong customer relations, analytics, and documentation skills. Self‑starter with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently or within a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to multi‑task and meet competing deliverable deadlines. Ability to adapt to evolving technology. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related area. Alternatively, a minimum of five (5) years of work experience can substitute the bachelor’s degree. Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing engineering functions related to military C6ISR systems. Clearance
Position requires U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret Security Clearance. Ability to obtain and maintain higher clearance if required. Compensation
