The full‑time Mechanical Drafter position is based in our Canonsburg, PA office, with working hours Monday and Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The role reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and is classified as a non‑exempt employee.
We are looking for a creative, detail‑oriented candidate with strong time‑management skills and technical abilities, who is also a team player and experienced using AutoCAD or similar CAD programs.
Responsibilities
Support Applications Engineering with P&ID generation for proposals using AutoCAD Mechanical / AutoCAD Plant 3D
Perform AutoCAD design work for all project designs in standard and metric formats
Create basic layouts in AutoCAD, producing fabrication drawings that translate easily to promote automation of purchasing and fabrication of assemblies; these drawing packages will also be used by field construction staff to erect or repair tanks and associated equipment
Advise the first line supervisor of project status, timing, resource availability, and capability
Check and correct completed drawings
Prepare and maintain document transmittal and index forms
Provide detail design drafting and/or technical support to project groups for new and existing equipment utilizing CAD software
Create complex working‑quality technical drawings for detail parts and assemblies in accordance with accepted industry drafting standards, symbology, verbal instruction, and production methods and processes
Use departmental CAD modeling and documentation tools to prepare detailed CAD design layouts for electro‑mechanical assemblies, working from conceptual design layouts or design instructions
Interface with Project Engineering, Manufacturing Division, and other internal customers to meet requirements for assigned projects
General drafting using AutoCAD Plant 3D, including corrections, markups, etc. to P&IDs, GAs, etc.
Plot drawings using AutoCAD (and occasionally Excel)
Help maintain and update the AutoCAD library to meet ANSI and ISA standards
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned to support the department or the company
Skill Requirements
Well‑versed with AutoCAD Plant 3D for preparing P&IDs, PFDs, HFDs, equipment layouts; creating and modifying symbology, line & equipment tags, etc.
Experience developing Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for interconnecting pipework based on equipment layout
Ability to draft additional equipment per project requirements, using check‑lists to verify factual accuracy before engineering release
Use vendor drawings for proper integration with the balance‑of‑plant design
Assist with drawing revisions, including cross‑discipline changes or customer comments
Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
Effective communication skills, positive attitude, good organizational skills
Project planning and management capability
Apply common‑sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form
Attention to detail
Proficient use of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet tools (SAP and Access desired) for data input and processing
Preferred experience drafting for water/wastewater treatment projects

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree in Mechanical Drafting / Design preferred
Experience with AutoCAD or similar software
