Join our manufacturing and engineering team as a Mechanical Drafter specializing in UL-listed electrical enclosures, including UL 891 switchboards, UL 508A industrial control panels, and UL 67 panelboards. This role supports the design and production of compliant, manufacturable enclosure systems by producing accurate mechanical drawings, layouts, and documentation. The Mechanical Drafter works closely with electrical engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet customer requirements, UL standards, and internal quality expectations.

About the Role The Mechanical Drafter will be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed mechanical drawings and documentation for UL enclosures, ensuring compliance with UL standards and internal quality expectations.

Responsibilities

Create and Maintain UL Enclosure Drawings: Develop detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for UL 891, UL 508A, and UL 67 enclosures, including panel layouts, door details, subpanels, mounting hardware, and ventilation features.

Design Documentation & Revisions: Prepare and maintain fabrication drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), cut sheets, and revision histories in accordance with UL and internal document control requirements.

Electrical & Mechanical Coordination: Collaborate closely with electrical engineers to ensure proper component clearances, wire-bending space, heat dissipation, accessibility, and serviceability per UL standards.

Manufacturing & Shop Support: Provide drafting support to fabrication and assembly teams, responding to RFIs, resolving fit-up or clearance issues, and incorporating shop feedback into drawing revisions.

UL Standards & Compliance: Ensure mechanical designs comply with UL 891, UL 508A, UL 67, and related enclosure, grounding, spacing, and labeling requirements. Support UL inspections and audits as needed.

Quality & Accuracy: Perform self-checks and peer reviews to ensure drawing accuracy, consistency, and readiness for fabrication prior to release.

Project Coordination: Support multiple enclosure projects simultaneously, meeting schedules while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

CAD & Data Management: Maintain organized CAD models, drawings, and file structures; adhere to ECO/ECN and document revision control processes.
