ABOUT THE CANDIDATE / ROLE Tradewind Aviation is looking for a Maintenance Control Supervisor to work out of our base location in Oxford, CT. The individual will manage and coordinate all aspects of aircraft maintenance to ensure flight safety and operational efficiency. Oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshoot technical issues, ensure compliance with regulations, coordinate with various departments like dispatch, flight operations, and maintenance personnel to minimize disruptions and maintain the flight schedule. Must be flexible with work schedule. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide technical guidance and make decisions regarding aircrafts maintenance

Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments

Determine schedule for maintenance inspections, manages unscheduled maintenance and monitor the status of aircraft maintenance

Address and coordinate resolution of maintenance discrepancies and monitor mechanical situations to minimize downtime

Ensures all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations and company standards

Maintains clear effective communication with all relevant parties, including maintenance crews, flight crews and management.

Reviews and approves maintenance release documents and initiates return to service procedures

Perform on-call duties for one week on a 5-6 week rotation.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Team Management: Lead, train, and mentor the Maintenance Control team. Make sure there’s always coverage around the clock and adjust staffing when needed.

Operational Oversight: Keep a big-picture view of maintenance across the fleet so you can spot workload peaks ahead of time. Review and sign off on key maintenance control decisions. Monitor overtime.

Policy & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the team follows all Part 135 regulations, the GOM, and Ops Specs.

Quality Control: Review maintenance records for accuracy and compliance. Watch for recurring issues in deferred items and help put plans in place to fix them.

Emergency & AOG Management: Take the lead during serious maintenance events - like in-flight emergencies or unexpected AOG situations. Be the go-to escalation point for problems.

Performance & Training: Assess team performance and give constructive feedback. Oversee initial and ongoing training on systems and procedures.

Communication: Serve as the main point of contact with Flight Ops leadership, Dispatch, and the Director of Maintenance. Join safety meetings and planning discussions.

Continuous Improvement: Look for ways to improve processes and make Maintenance Control more efficient. Track KPIs.

Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

FAA A&P license (5 + Years of experience preferred)

Prior supervisory experience required.

Valid US Driver’s License + Clean Driving Record

Valid passport without travel restrictions

Eagerness to learn and willingness to train.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Strength to lift 50lbs, and the ability to work in confined spaces.

Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods

Ability to hear and speak clearly on the phone and in meetings (in person or virtual)
