Job Description We are seeking a Lighting Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of vehicle exterior lighting systems. This role will manage supplier collaboration, software implementation, and compliance testing, ensuring high-quality lighting components and systems are delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities
Develop truth tables, function maps, and vehicle function software with lighting suppliers
Execute validation using EE plywood buck, EE HIL, and vehicle-level testing at assembly plants
Calculate CO2 credits for LED lamps for regulatory compliance
Lead integration and validation of signal lighting and EE systems
Manage development, plywood buck, and vehicle validation for lighting compliance
Interface with supplier lighting ECUs, body controllers, and EE teams
Support CAN and LIN communication and KX Lighting EE development
Collaborate with local engineering teams, Architecture/Vehicle Concepts, program science teams, and PDO to launch exterior lighting components
Participate in meetings during North American work hours
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited or equivalent program
5+ years of design, release, and CAD packaging experience
Experience designing and developing large injection-molded components
Knowledge of injection molding, painting, and decorating plastic components
Experience releasing both mechanical and electrical components
Strong written and oral communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, and database applications
OEM or supplier design and release experience
Proficiency with Catia V5, NX, and Teamcenter
Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, and validation plans
